The Xcite for Parents programme, run by Harrow Council, will continue depsite losing LDA funding. It was due to close after the London Development Agency (LDA) cut funding, but Harrow Council has got money from a European Fund (administered by the LDA) to keep the scheme going.
Xcite has helped more than 80 parents get back into work. It will continue as the Xcite Employment Project for at least another six months and will help jobless parents (returning to work after a period of childcare) and other long-term unemployed people.
Council leader, Councillor Bill Stephenson, told the Harrow Times: “I’m delighted that Harrow Council can continue this work and even extend its reach to help those residents who want to find work but are struggling in such a tough job market.”
