Work starts on Hounslow Town Centre

The £2m revamp of Hounslow High Street has got under way, adding new seating, paving, and trees, and removing clutter.

The two-phase project is being delivered by the Hounslow Highways, and is funded by London Borough of Hounslow and the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund.

Councillor Steve Curran, cabinet member for housing, planning and regeneration, said: “These works are a turning point for the High Street, and the town, that will transform the street environment, attract further investment and boost the local economy.

“We are creating an environment which will boost shops and businesses and make the town centre a place where people want to be and somewhere we are all proud of.”

Phase One sees work taking place on Bell Square, between the bend of the Staines Road carriageway to the west and Bell Road to the east. The second phase will see works taking place along the pedestrianised part of the High Street, and is due to start in the new year
