Work starts at Langley

The main construction work to turn Slough’s Langley Leisure Centre into a facility fit for the future has begun.

Construction started on Monday to extend existing facilities and renew tired equipment and amenities.

The centre is expected to open in summer 2018. Improvements include a single-storey gym extension, and refurbishment of the swimming facilities. Langley Leisure Centre was first built in 1997.

The current refurbishment and extension of the centre is being carried out by Slough Urban Renewal, a partnership between Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments.

Councillor Joginder Bal, cabinet member for environment and leisure, said: “I am really excited to see the site develop and can’t wait for it to open next year.”

Andy Howell, General Manager at Slough Urban Renewal said; “There is so much positive change taking place in Slough. The improvements underway at Langley Leisure Centre will ensure the borough and its residents have access to a superb new facility, which is both accessible and brought right up to date”.

When complete, Langley Leisure Centre will be operated by Everyone Active, the council’s new leisure partner.
