Wood End Library will close on August 7 to begin refurbishment works.
The works aim to to redevelop the building to create a modern library and children’s centre, including a contemporary library offering traditional services with access to computers and a range of learning opportunities. It will also provide family support, activities for children and adults, early childhood and health services and links to Job Centre Plus.
The new centre is due to open in spring 2011.
The total cost of the refurbishment is £870,000. Ealing Council is contributing £300,000 from the library capital fund and the remainder will come from Sure Start funding from the former Department for Children, Schools and Families.
