West London Business have published a briefing note on the General Election intended to inform candidates about the issues which matter most to businesses in the sub-region.
The guide says that in particular employers in West London want whichever Government is elected to minimise the uncertainty around Brexit, and maximise any opportunities that might arise. It points out that the hospitality sector has experienced staff recruitment issues since the referendum, largely because of the declining value of the Pound when remitted to the native country of non-UK nationals.
It also points to infrastructure investment – such as adding passenger services to the Old Oak to Dudding Hill freight line, and kicking off a West London autonomous vehicle pilot.
On land, it suggests protecting and intensifying the use of industrial land in well-connected locations.
