The William Church Estate in Shepherds Bush is the latest in West London to be covered by an ASB Dispersal Zone.
Dispersal Zones allow police to moe on groups of people who engage in anti-social behaviour, and arrest them if they fail to do so, or gather again. Such an arrangement has been said to be successful in South Kilburn recently, where crime reduced, and other policing benefits were realised while the zone was in force.
William Church Estate has been victim to ASB and following complaints from residents, the new powers have been introduced. The intriduction of the Dispersal Zone follows on from a similar arrangement last year in Shepherd’s Bush town centre which, reports the Fulham Chronicle, saw over 300 people dispersed and 14 people arrested for failing to comply.
