Weston Homes is to start construction on the £120m residential redevelopment of the Denham Film Laboratories.
They will spend six months demolishing ancillary buildings, and two and a half years turning the 12 acre site into an Art Deco and movie inspired 224 homes development.
The Grade II listed main building will be converted into 49 apartments, with 105 homes in three new blocks, and the remainder in terraced houses and detached townhouses. The cinema, used for private screenings of movies like James Bond and ET to their directors, will be retained.
The studios have been used less and less as digital technologies overtook traditional film.
