Hounslow Council is consulting on a new plan for the western side of the Borough, which could include the 9,000 home Heathrow Garden City development.
The West of Borough Plan will focus on the areas of Hanworth, Feltham, Hounslow West, Bedfont and Cranford and Heston. The area is next to Heathrow Airport but still contains large areas of open space, with much of it designated Metropolitan Green Belt.
The plans include the area around the Clockhouse Roundabout which the Council propose to redevelop as the 9,000 home Heathrow Garden City and some of the open land descibed above would be required for that. The development, hopes the council, would also produce a new station at the roundabout serving Bedfont and a new southern rail connection to Heathrow, and south to Clapham Junction and Waterloo.
The Plan will add to the adopted London Borough of Hounslow Local Plan to focus on this area, and provide the council’s vision for the next 15 years.
The council says it aims to “facilitate transport-led regeneration and residential and employment growth, and review the function of the Green Belt”.
The council has produced an Issues paper on which it is seeking opinions. The consultation also includes a Call for Sites.
