West London scores low for affordable housing targets

Boris new Boris Johnson has released his affordable housing targets, which concentrate on delivery in the East, and deliver only 80% of his desired 50,000 homes.

West London is expected to generate just 10% of the affordable homes the Mayor wants to see in London by 2011. Hillingdon, at 598 homes,has the smallest target, with Harrow (656), Hounslow (730) and Hammersmith (967) all in the bottom half of the list. Tower Hamlets is epected to deliver over 5,000, with the total from all 21 Boroughs with whom targets have been agreed being around 40,000.

Brent and Ealing are yet to have targets set – Brent's was 1,700 from the previous administration, and Ealing has a proposed target of 1,520, but remains in negotiation with the Mayor's office.
