A number of projects in West London have secured funding through Boris Johnson’s Great Outdoors programme. The programme is aimed at improving streets and public spaces across the capital, and could now help to realise the vision for an arrival space for Park Royal.
Park Royal’s Southern Gateway – the “place de la gare” – is a project which aims to provide a sense of place and arrival at a key public transport location at the edge of Park Royal. Concept designs have been developed and funding of £1 million has been identified by LB Ealing and £3-4 million from a development partner. It now has the backing of London’s Mayor.
Brent River Park in Ealing, Helical Bar & Grainger’s King Street development in Hammersmith, Newton Park Ecology Farm in Harrow, and Yeading Brook in Hillingdon are also among the 50 or so schemes across London to have already secured funding.
The Great Outdoors programme also sets out the Mayor’s visions for better streets, and better green and water spaces.
