West London Alliance annual report published

West London Alliance (WLA) has published its annual report detailing the organisation’s successes.

WLA is one of the most successful borough-wide partnerships that has been formed between seven West London local authorities of Barnet, Brent, Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham, Harrow, Hillingdon and Hounslow, the report highlights key achievements over the past year, which include:

4,925 people forecast to benefit from skills projects funded by £3.4 million from devolved business rates

220 young people with Special Education Needs who gained employment after a supported internship in West London

900 people forecast to benefit from individual placement and support mental health trailblazer

367 people prevented from rough sleeping

Saving £3.6 million by joint commissioning independent fostering and residential placements

Promoting the West London Orbital Rail line which is now in the Mayor’s Transport Strategy and draft London Plan

The new WLA Chair Cllr Graham Henson, Leader of the London Borough of Harrow, thanked the outgoing Chair, Cllr Steve Curran, Leader of the London Borough of Hounslow, for his leadership over the last year.

Cllr Henson said: “2018/19 was the West London Alliance’s 21st year and the purpose of coming together to improve outcomes for West London has endured”. The annual report sets out achievements over the last year across six programme areas and how the WLA boroughs will work together to promote and deliver sustainable and inclusive growth.”

David Francis the WLA Director, who will be speaking at the Capital West London Growth Summit 2019, said: “We aim to complement and influence borough, London, UK and global action, to ensure West London builds on its position as one of the most connected and successful places in the world. An inclusive and successful West London is good for London, the country and if environmentally sustainable the whole planet.”
