Wembley Northside ‘not stalled’

Wembley_homes Quintain insist their development remains on track, despite reports they have stood down consultants.

A report in Building magazine suggests that phase two of Quintain’s Wembley regeneration is on hold, since archtiects have been asked to stop work on the project.

The projects involved in the Wembley Northside scheme include two 14-storey blocks of 336 apartments and three further residential schemes. Make Architects is designing the masterplan, which will cover Wembley Retail Park and Stadium Retail Park.

A spokesperson for Quintain said: “We’ve agreed with Brent council to put a civic centre in the middle of the Northern Lands site and that has changed all of our plans. We have paused for breath, and are looking at how to put in this civic centre. Everything is moving forward.”

Quintain emphasised that work on the first phase of its regeneration was going ahead as planned: "The first residential building, which was 100% pre-sold, will open in August. The second, which was 90% pre-sold, is on schedule for completion in 2010, and enabling works are underway on the W05 plot, which includes the 441-bed Hilton Hotel and 656-bed student accommodation scheme. Quintain expects to grant its next construction contract, which will include the first retail and entertainment elements of the scheme, within the next few weeks."
