Wembley Arena will host more Olympic events

West London has more to look forward to from the 2012 Olympics after organisers decide to move two sports to Wembley Arena.

Badminton and rhythmic gymnastics will now take place at the Arena instead of in a temporary venue built just for the Olympics. The decision could save £20m, but is subject to approval from both badminton and gymnastics officials.

A statement said: “The Olympic Board has agreed the proposal to use existing facilities at Wembley Arena to host two sports rather than build a temporary venue on the North Greenwich Peninsula.”
