Watford’s cedars plans approved

Watford FC have had their plans to rebuild a community centre approved.

The Lom Architects plans for the Cedars Youth Centre site on Chicheley Gardens involve demolishing the existing building and replacing it with a new one containing an arts and crafts room, a music and drama room incorporating a separate recording studio, a computer suite, a gym, a café that looks out over the outdoor play area, changing rooms, a sports hall, a kitchen, a climbing wall, two meeting rooms and administration offices. It will be run by Watford FC Community Education and Sports Trust.

There will be two workstations for use by visiting police officers and local residents associations will be given workspace too.

The neighbouring enclosed synthetic pitch will be used for the trust’s Kickz soccer courses and to host physical education lessons from local schools.

Members of the public will have free access between 3pm and 6pm on weekdays and 1pm and 5pm at weekends, and 14 hours a week will be set aside for private hire.
