LB Wandsworth is to open a consultation on a masterplan for the regeneration of the Winstanley and York Road estates.
This follows a consultation last summer in which residents in the area were asked what they like, dislike and want to see change on their estate – when they expressed concerns over issues such as crime, anti-social behaviour, and the physical environment.
While residents stated that they like their homes, they suggested the blocks themselves could be improved.
Councillor Jonathan Cook, deputy leader of Wandsworth Council, said: “We have taken the first step in an exciting project for residents and businesses in and around these two estates.
“Along with potential changes to buildings and the environment; we are also aiming to help local people make the most of their talents by assisting them into employment, training and educational opportunities as part of the regeneration project.”
Early next year the council intends to appoint a consultant to produce a masterplan for the two estates.
