Wandsworth announce apprenticeships scheme

New employment opportunities are being offered as part of Wandsworth Council’s drive to create apprenticeships.

Wandsworth Council has 28 vacancies open to young people aged 16 to 24 to take on an apprenticeship in one of their IT, business administration, health and social care or childcare departments.

Some of the vacancies are within the town hall itself, including four vacancies within council-run children’s centres, a human resources position and numerous health and social care opportunities in the adult social services department.

In the private sector officers have been working with an IT company looking for trainee technicians, an estate agent, a travel company and a major construction firm.

Recently, Wandsworth Council – backed by several London councils – successfully led a partnership bid for apprenticeship funding worth £1.25m – beating national employment and service providers Reed, Prospects and Serco.
