Walkabout plans approved

Hammersmith & Fulham Council has granted permission for Dorsett Hotels plans to redevelop the Walkabout site in Shepherds Bush.

The building, originally known as the Shepherds Bush Palladium, will be converted into new serviced apartments.

In keeping with their usual way of working, Dorsett Hospitality International, who own the neighbouring Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel, will retain the building’s original fa├žade while adding eight storeys to accommodate 74 new apartments, along with 8,500 sq ft of commercial space on the ground and lower ground floors.

The scheme, designed by Flanagan Lawrence, will keep and enhane the historic details while producing a new art deco inspired building located between two Grade II Listed buildings, the Pavilion (now the Dorsett Hotel) and The Empire. The grand pediment, which has changed over time, will be restored back to its original 1923 design.

The ground floor will include a restaurant which will be linked to the Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel via a glazed courtyard entrance.

Construction will commence in 2018, with completion expected in 2019.
