The Victoria & Albert Museum has gone to tender for the design work involved in converting its Hammersmith storage facility into a study centre.
The V&A has issued an OJEU notice for design services for the site on Blythe Road in W14. They want to convert the building into a Textile and Fashion Study and Conservation Centre, which would also provide improved storage for their collection of 104,000 textiles, a public study room and a textile conservation studio.
They are seeking to reinstate the original entrance to the building and “create a welcoming and fully accessible visitor experience”.
