Uxbridge public realm improvements

Work starts in September on a public realm upgrade around The Pavilions shopping centre in Uxbridge.

Work begins on 14 September to regenerate the area between the main entrance of The Pavilions and the pedestrian crossing in Belmont Road. Hillingdon Council and Transport for London (TfL) have joined forces to provide funding for the £250,000 project, which will complete in early 2010, but be suspended over the busy Christmas trading period.

Some of the suggestions for the works have come through the Uxbridge Initiative, with the main aim of the scheme being to improve the look of the area more space for pedestrians, places for people to sit down, new street furniture and create a larger area for the regular mini-funfair and similar attractions.

Mary Worrall, Head of Highways and Green Spaces, said: “We are committed to supporting businesses and residents in the town centre by making it an attractive and vibrant place where people can live, work, visit and shop.”
