Unemployment in line with region

Unemploment figures for West London are roughly in line with the London region.

The January numbers, which gave a headline national fall in unemployment showed a rise in total unemployment in London. Claimant counts in the West London Boroughs all rose by similar amounts as London as a whole, which was 1.1%. In Western Boroughs, the counts grew by between 1% and 1.4%.

The total claimant count for London is 4.4%. Brent has a count running at 5.4%, the highest in West London. Ealing is also above the London figure. Harrow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Hounslow and Hillingdon are all below the London level, with Harrow the lowest at 3.4%.
