UK risks being seen as “a joke”

Sir Howard Davies has said that Britain risks being viewed as a joke by the rest of the World if it can’t take a decision on airport expansion.

The former chair of the Airports Commission made the comments in an interview with the Evening Standard, saying also that the decision was more important than ever following the EU referendum to show that Britain was still open for investors, and keen to make connections with markets like India and China.

He urged whoever takes over as Prime Minister to make a decision on where to build a runway an early priority.
