A dispute centred on Twyford Tip threatens to disrupt the redevelopment of an important site.
The row concerns who is responsible for the clean up of the contaminated land on the site, on the North Circular near Stonebridge Park. It’s an important site and one LB Brent say they would like to see brought forward for development. There is an existing planning permission for a mixed use development – Century City – on the site, but the developer behind that scheme is arguing that the site clean-up should be Brent Council’s responsibility.
The Council is reported to have made it clear they believe the developer – Ashia Centur – has the responsibility for the clean up, which the Harrow Times says could cost £30m.
