Two more Hammersmith free schools

The Government has approved two more free schools in LB Hammersmith & Fulham – a primary on the Burlington Danes Academy site and another primary on the site of the new Earls Court development, sponsored by the West London Free School (WLFS).

Both primaries have been given the green light by the Government to recruit for pupils starting school in September 2014. It will bring the total number of free schools in Hammersmith & Fulham to seven.

Burlington Danes Academy in White City is planning to open a new primary school at its Wood Lane site for an initial 60 pupils in two classes, with 360 spaces available ultimately.

The West London Free School already has approval to open a primary school on its current site in Cambridge Grove and, with a total of 394 applications for 60 places, is over-subscribed. Today’s Government announcement gives approval for an additional primary, sponsored by WLFS, in west Kensington, opening in 2014.
