Television Centre has announced that the “BP Big Screen on the Forecourt” will open to the public for the first time this summer, free for anyone to enjoy.
The first screening will be Romeo and Juliet live from the Royal Opera House, on Tuesday the 11th of June 2019. Kenneth MacMillan’s celebrated Shakespearean ballet features Royal Ballet Principal Dancers Matthew Ball and Yasmine Naghdi dance the young lovers Romeo and Juliet. The presenters will be Ore Oduba, Darcey Bussell and Royal Ballet Principal Character Artist Kristen McNally.
Following Romeo and Juliet, the next Royal Opera BP Big Screen performance at Television Centre will be Carmen on the 2nd of July, which tells the story of the enigmatic and seductive Carmen and the dangerous passion she arouses in Don José. The third and final summer screening will be Mozart’s great comic opera, The Marriage of Figaro on the 9th of July, where colourful characters mix with intrigue, misunderstanding and forgiveness in a multitude of dramatic twists.
In addition to the Royal Opera House live screenings, Television Centre will again show the summer’s biggest sporting events, with highlights such as Queens, Wimbledon, the FIFA Women’s World Cup and the Cricket World Cup, as well as film screenings and other live specials.
