Troubadour gets temporary theatre consent in White City

Troubadour Theatres has been granted consent to put a 10,000 sq ft temporary theatre on the BBC Media Village site in White City.

The White City Place Theatre will be the new home of the group, who have been based in Kings Cross on the site of what will be Google’s headquarters. The White City home will be there’s until 2021, when Stanhope and Mitsui Fudoshan expect to begin work on the site, which is at present a surface car park.

The venue will also include a rehearsal space, bars, circulation space, audience toilets, office, dressing room and storage space in a series of temporary structures and converted shipping containers.

It is understood that the theatre will open in April 2019 with a Shakespeare production. The group is also scheduled to open a theatre in Wembley Park.
