Transport Minister says R3 “proceeding”

Transport Minister Lord Callanan has said that the expansion of Heathrow will happen despite it not being mentioned in the recent Queens Speech.

The Independent reports that Lord Callanan said at the Abta Travel Matters conference that it was not included in the speech beause it does not require legislation.

He sais the Government is committed to a third runway at Heathrow, and that building it was essential to stopping the UK losing out to foreign airports.

The Minister promised the next steps would be set out “as soon as possible.”
