Talking CCTV cameras are planned for Hounslow Town Centre as part of a £1.5m Council investment in Town Centre safety.
The live feed from the cameras would be watched by operators, who would issue tannoy-style announcements to anyone seen engaged in acts of antisocial behaviour. The plans are part of a £1.5m CCTV investment by the council to make the town centre safer and provide security for shoppers. Hounslow has less than 0.5 cameras per 1,000 people less than the Shetland Islands, reports the Hounslow Guardian. The talking cameras will be installed, budget permitting in the Town Centre.
As well as introducing the tannoy-tyle system the Council wants to upgrade cameras to include facial recognition, number plate recognition and thermal imaging in parks.
