The Government's decision on Heathrow's third runway is expected this week.
The Evening Standard reports the decision as 'imminent', while other reports suggest it could be tomorrow (Tuesday).
Any go-ahead will be tied to binding assurances that strict limits on emissions and aircraft noise will be met, and may be linked to a promise to build a high-speed rail link to reduce domestic flights at the same time.
This will not appease the green lobby though, it seems. A demonstration is planned this evening, and there are other promises of further action.
