Lord Clive Soley of Future Heathrow and Frank Wingate of West London Business were speaking for the runway, but at times it seemed they were the only ones in the room in favour.
Both stressed the business and economic benefits. Lord Soley stressed the percmajored on the need for Heathrow to expand to compete with similar airports in Europe and across the world.
Frank Wingate defended his organisation's position, saying businesses supported the idea because it was necessary to sustain the economy in west London.
He said: “Business owners have told me if we don't expand Heathrow, they will go. We have a pretty difficult decision to make here, but it is basic jobs and prosperity we are concerned about.”
The Mayor and Zac Goldsmith opposed the runway, which was popular with the crowd of disaffected residents.
