For the last few years, there's been an alternative to the carbon-belching plane, or more eco-friendly train for the trip down to MIPIM. But it's not for the fainthearted – a hundred or so hardy types do it on pushbikes.
C2C (Cycle to Cannes) is a charity event whic last year raised over £300,000 for a selection of charities including Architects for Aid. Apparently, it's very pleasurable, and companies such as 3D Reid, Knight Frank, Gallifird Try, Jones Lang Lasalle, Dexter Moren, Development Securities and British Land all feature as sponsors and participants.
LB Ealing's Executive Director for Regeneration and Housing, Pat Hayes, is doing it for the second time. He maintains it's not a cost cutting measure by the Council, but a matter of personal preference. Sadly lookwest has to be at the show before the peloton is scheduled to arrive, so we're unable to take part. But we encourage anyone else to contact email@example.com.
lookwest is, as advertised, co-ordinating the West London presence. It's still open to participation by companies and organisations. So if you haven't planned your MIPIM attendance yet, see details here, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
