TESTRAD show lakes plan

testrad heathrow lakes dec 2013The Thames Estuary Research and Development Company – the group behind one of the plans for an estuary airport – have shown images of how they think the site of Heathrow Airport could be redeveloped.

Heathrow’s closure and redevelopment is an essential part of the funding plan for building any new airport in the Thames estuary. TESTRAD say Heathrow could be redeveloped as 150,000 homes together with office and commercial space accommodating 200,000 jobs, with the runways becoming waterways.

A Grade II listed hanger and one of the terminals would be retained – the latter as a check in for the new airport, which would be 45 minutes away.

The Airports Commission is expected to release itsĀ interim report next week.
