The proposed Tesco superstore in Yiewsley was approved by the Planning Committee despite opposition from residents and traders.
The application for a 7,390sq m supermarket plus 97 residential units just off High Street, Yiewsley, near Trout Road, facing the Grand Union Canal was faced by petitions and letters of objection from residents and traders. However, planning permission was granted at a planning meeting last night.
This plan was the third revision after the previous applications were rejected by Hillingdon Council.
Last Spring a Government planning inspector upheld the council’s decision on the grounds the development would impact badly on the nearby Grand Union Canal.
So a new plan which sees the building moved 21m from the canal edge and increased in height was created, and Tesco returned to Hillingdon’s planning committee, successfully.
