Tesco Harefield recommended for refusal

Tesco’s plans for a new store in Harefield look set for refusal.

Officers are advising the planning committee to reject the application, reports the Uxbridge Gazette. The officer’s report shows they are still not satisfied that adequate safety improvements have been made, saying the scheme would result in driver confusion and would be “detrimental to highway and pedestrian safety”, with deliveries potentially hampering ambulances going to nearby Harefield Hospital.

Tesco believes its L-shaped building with flats above the store would help regenerate Harefield Village, “bringing environmental enhancement, providing residential units and stimulating investment in the local centre”.
