Tesco Harefield inquiry opens

The inquiry on Tesco’s appeal on their proposed Harefield store has opened.

Tesco have had their plans for the site on Rickmandsworth Road refused twice, then lodged an appeal which opened, and will conclude this week. Most recently they had revised plans refused in March after trying to take into consideration criticism ofhow the proposed scheme related to the listed neighbours.

Many of the objections noted in the Uxbridge Gazette are based on traffic, and in particular delivery lorry parking, which Tesco also attempted to address in their amended submission, creating off-road delivery parking.

Local traders are also raising objections, and the refusal campaign is being supported by Yiewsley’s Gay Brown, who has opposed plans there, and elsewhere. Indeed she now works for Tescopoly, a campaign group set up to fight Tesco.
