Task Force calls for public land register

The Mayor’s Housing Task Force has published a report which calls for a register of public land for sale.

The Task Force, set up by the Mayor of London to report on delivery of new homes in London, recommends the setting up of a London public land register, so the Mayor’s office would know when a public body wishes to sell a parcel of land. They think this will let the Mayor consider if the land could be used for homes.

The body also recommends the already mooted idea of setting up a mayor’s housing and property company.
