Heathrow’s new Terminal 2 has opened successfully, with United Airlines moving 34 flights in to the new building.
This is only a fraction of the total number of flights the terminal will handle when running at full capacity, but opening day seems to have passed without incident, and Heathrow will now scale up the number of flights arriving there.
John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow Development Director and CEO designate said: “We are delighted to have welcomed the first passengers to Heathrow’s new Terminal 2 today. Performance has exceeded our expectations. The new Terminal 2 has delivered a great new welcome to Britain.”
2,516 departing passengers checked-in at Terminal 2 on its first day. while 3,171 arrived at the new terminal.
