Work has started on 104 new homes in Wexham Green – the latest housing development by Slough Urban Renewal.
SUR, the joint venture between Slough Borough Council and Morgan Sindall Investments, is bringing new family-sized housing to the site of the former Wexham Nursery on Wexham Lane. Named Wexham Green, the homes are being built by Lovell for private sale and affordable rent.
Wexham Green is the second major housing development undertaken by SUR – and starts less than a year after the beginning of Milestone on Ledgers Road which is, say SUR, already 70 percent sold.
Councillor Zaffar Ajaib, commissioner for housing and urban renewal, said: “Housing in Slough is at a premium and we need new and high quality housing for our residents.
“These homes are in a lovely setting, right of the leafy edges of the borough and within easy reach of the town and the hospital.
“And with the addition of new homes for affordable rent this is a real benefit for residents.
“We promised we would be spending more on housing in the borough, building more homes and more affordable homes – and this estate is one part of this promise becoming a reality.”
Andy Howell, general manager of SUR said: “The Wexham Green development is significant because it demonstrates the ongoing success of SUR and the second housing site beginning construction.
“It is really exciting to see homes being built in this area which will enhance what the town already has to offer and to deliver much needed, high quality new housing for those living and working here.
“Wexham Green is a fantastic leafy new place ideal for family living and we are very excited to see the houses now being built.”
