Supersewer site gets new protection order

The Department of Communities & Local Government has issued a new safeguarding order for the Thames Supersewer construction site in Fulham.

The government had issued a safeguarding direction for the riverside site in Carnwath Road, where Thames Water wants to build a drive shaft for the Thames Tideway Tunnel which prevented LB Hammersmith & Fulham from granting planning permission, entering into any agreement with landowners or passing any resolution to influence the site’s planning status without ministerial authorisation.

Now Planning Magazine reports DCLG has withdrawn that order and issued a new one which just prevents the council from granting any planning permission for the site without ministerial approval.
