A Stanwell housing scheme has been regognised in a national set of awards.
The £50m A2Dominion Stanwell New Start regeneration scheme in Spelthorne, just outside Hillingdon, has been highly commended at the high-profile Housebuilder Awards 2010 for its community project involving 900 people. The Stanwell Project involved local residents of all ages involved in the making of a street art mural, film and book.
The judges said: “A2 Dominion’s creation of a mural depicting the history of Stanwell was well worth acknowledging especially the fact that the company had succeeded in getting a high number of residents involved.”
David Price, A2Dominion’s Regeneration Director, said: “We are thrilled that the Stanwell Community Project has been recognised by this prestigious awards competition. The project was a fantastic success which brought so many people from the local community together.”
The Stanwell New Start regeneration scheme, for which demolition started in May 2009, will see a total of 164 homes replaced with 360 new flats and houses. The work is taking place over four phases and the project is expected to take about five years to complete. Outline planning permission for phases two, three and four was granted by Spelthorne Borough Council in October 2010.
