St William submit new Fulham Gasworks plans

St William Homes have submitted an Environmental Impact Assessment plan for a 2000 home residential development on the Fulham Gasworks site.

The site is adjacent to Chelsea Creek, and on the edge of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, who have been consulted by Hammersmith & Fulham. It includes the Grade II listed no.2 Gasholder said to be among the oldest surviving in the world, which is in poor condition and was recently added to the “at risk” register.

The plans replace previous ones brought forward by the same developer for a 1375 home development which were deemed not to comply with the London Plan by the Mayor of London’s office. These plans sought to retain and repair the gasholder, along with several other historic buildings on the site.
