Every resident of the St. Raphael’s estate in Stonebridge now has the opportunity to access employment skills, training and advice right on their doorstep with the launch of a new employment service called ‘The Living Room’ based at The Old Boiler House just off Besant Way.
The Living Room has been launched in partnership between Brent Council, the West London Alliance and the Department for Work and Pensions with the aim of supporting residents into work by providing helpful advice and training on the estate.
The service is strengthened by partnering with local housing providers and other organisations in the voluntary and community sector including Brent Housing Partnership, CVS Brent and Citizens Advice.
Councillor Roxanne Mashari, Lead Member for Employment and Skills at Brent Council said: “Residents on St Raphael’s estate now have the opportunity to access a range of services on their doorstep such as employment, skills and health advice. This will go a long way in supporting resident’s aspirations and make it easier for them to achieve their employment, training and career goals.”
Dan Gascoyne, Director West London Alliance said, “The Living Room is a great example of a locally designed community based service, delivered by local partnerships to improve the lives of the residents of St Raphael’s Estate. We’re proud to be associated with this project, and through the West London Alliance other places are being supported to develop their own local solutions.”
