The plans, for 418 new homes, new offices, shops and restaurants on the site of the current Kings Mall car park and the West 45 office building, in Glenthorne Road, were approved by Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F) Council’s planning committee in early March.
The plans, designed by Lifschutz Davidson Sandilands, for the site at 45 Beadon Road, will involve the demolition of the West 45 office building (which has been empty for five years), and the car park as well as a small section of railway viaduct which lies within the site boundary, and the construction of a single building up to 17 storeys high with a 700 space replacement public car park in the basement levels, 529 sqm of ground floor commercial floorspace and 418 new homes.
The scheme has been designed to meet with Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes. GVA are handling planning.
The new building, which will incorporate sustainable urban drainage systems – including green and brown roofs where vegetation is planted on top of the buildings, will include thirty per cent affordable housing.
