Spending Power drops for West London Councils

Council spending power will fall across West London with the new Local Government Settlement, except in Barnet, according to government figures.

Councils will get around 30% less grant next year, but overall spending power takes in to account other sources of revenue. The numbers suggest Hammersmith & Fulham will be hardest hit, with a fall in spending power of -4.7%.

Brent is a close second on -4.5%, with Wandsworth (-3.2%), Ealing (-2.5%), Hounslow (-1.9%), Harrow (-1.7%) and Hillingdon (-1.1%) also in negative territory.

Barnet’s overall spending power will increase by 0.1%.
