Slough mass transit works begin

Works are underway for the Slough Mass Rapid Transit (SMaRT) bus service between the Slough Trading Estate and Slough railway station.

SMaRT phase one will produce a rapid bus service between the Bath Road business area and Slough railway station, phase two will also link with Heathrow airport.

The new bus service will have priority over other normal traffic, serving only three stops – two on the Bath Road in the trading estate, and one at the station.

It will be a public service, with some businesses paying for their staff to use the service, thus replacing some of the existing individual shuttle services.

The project has been funded by the Thames Valley Berkshire Local Transport Board (part of the Local Enterprise Partnership) and Slough Borough Council.
