Hounslow Council’s leader has criticised Justice Secretary Chris Grayling MP for failing to consult the authority over plans to create a ‘super prison’ in Feltham before they were announced.
In a letter to Mr Grayling, Councillor Jagdish Sharma said: “We are dismayed to have learnt from the media of the existence of a feasibility study for the building of a ‘super-prison’ on the site of the Feltham Young Offenders Institution without any prior forewarning or contact from your ministry.”
Reports circulated last week that the super prison could be built a Feltham. Cllr Sharma demanded that Mr Grayling fully consult the council on the plans.
