SEGRO and Barratt Homes have submitted plans for a mixed use redevelopment of the Nestle factory site in Hayes.
The plans involve the part demolition of the existing 91,000sqm of buildings on the site and their replacement with 1381 homes, of which 35% would be affordable, and 22,663sqm of industrial space.
The site is in the Hayes town centre Housing Zone, and is a first in temrs of mixing industrial space with homes. As well as the homes, around 536 jobs will be created in the employment space.
There will be three hectares of new public open space including opening up the canal frontage to the public for the first time.
The scheme involves the retention of the locally listed factory facade, canteen facade, entrance gates and railings.
8.11ha of the site will become residential, desinged by Hawkins\Brown, dMFK, and Makower Architects, while 4.17ha will become industrial space, designed by Michael Sparks Associates.
