School’s out. Builders in.

John_perryn School building work is going through a mini-boom all over the sub-region.

Over £30m of school building, refurbishment and extension is under way across West London. Partly this is the usual school holiday window for fixing dilapidated facilities, but some of the uplift is due to the national programme of school renewal.

The biggest scheme is the £10m demolition and rebuild of Khalsa Primary in Ealing, financed by the trustees of Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Saba. This is at tender stage, so no building yet, but work is expected to start in October.

Also in Ealing, the renewal of John Perryn Primary (pictured) continues – a £7.7m project providing a new two storey building for a two-form Primary School and an associated nursery – and the £3.5m replacement of Perivale Primary, another demolition and rebuild job due to go on site in the Autumn.

In Brent, the £2.5m extension to Alperton Community School is on site. And as previously reported, Featherstone Primary and Twyford High (both Ealing) are undergoing major extensions.

Add this to the college work going on in Southall and Harrow, and there’s an education boom.
