RBKC proposes Kensal Crossrail station

The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has proposed an additional Crossrail station at Kensal.

The council suggest the new station should sit next to Sainsbury’s in Ladbroke Grove and the Regent’s Canal, in the narrow strip in the north of RBKC which sits between Brent, Westminster and Hammersmith & Fulham. The location is within a mile of the proposed site of an HS2/Crossrail interchange at Old Oak Common, backed by LB Hammersmith & Fulham. It would seem unlikely that both proposals could succeed without affecting the journey times of Crossrail trains when in operation.

Boris Johnson has said he will only support new stations if the costs do not add to the cost of Crossrail, and don’t delay the project. RBKC say their proposal meets these tests.
