A draft Council planning document for the redevelopment of RAF Uxbridge was approved at a meeting of the cabinet last week.
The draft Council plan proposes a theatre, museum or music hall, restaurants, cafes, and 1,620 new homes of which 567 are likely to be affordable housing, and enhancing the nearby river path alongside the Pinn.
The Council has already held extensive consultation, which showed residents want the underground bunker on the site retained and a visitors centre included to promote the history of RAF Uxbridge. Further consultations will continue through the summer.
Councillor Keith Burrows, cabinet member for planning and transportation at the council, told the Hillingdon Times: "This is going to be one of the biggest developments we have seen in the borough in many years."
The site is owned by Vinci St Modwen (VSM).
