The council hopes the scheme will form a focal point for the ongoing regeneration programme in South Kilburn and provide approximately 50 new homes, including affordable homes.
The plans include a new landmark building on the corner of Kilburn Park Road and Chippenham Gardens, aiming to improve safety in the local area and enhance the existing courtyard to create a public square.
The development site currently includes 5-9 Chippenham Gardens, Kilburn Park Post Office and 4-26 Stuart Road (even numbers only). Following consultation with the Post Office and the current tenant, the Kilburn Park Post Office will not re-open following redevelopment.
A planning application is due to be submitted in February 2016.
Councillor Margaret McLennan, Lead Member for Housing and Development at Brent Council said: “Our aim for the regeneration of South Kilburn is to create better places for people to live in and enjoy.
“The redevelopment of this site is an important part of our vision to improve living standards and make the area safer and more attractive.”
